Groups on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter can help you keep in touch with other Knights/Lady Knights as well as show your pride as a member of the Saint Mary’s community. It’s a great way to stay in touch with other alums, staff and parents as well as to discover people you might not know who are part of the larger Saint Mary’s community.

It seems like everyone these days is on Facebook, and you may be wondering what it takes to get your own account. Luckily for you, the process is super simple and takes just a few minutes to set up. After you set up your Facebook account, you could be
chatting with old friends from high school or coworkers in no time.
How to Set Up a Facebook Account:
1. Start at the homepage. When you go to facebook.com, you see a screen that asks you
login or sign up for a free account. Click on "Sign Up," which takes you to a Web form.
2. Fill out the form that asks for your full name, your current status, e-mail address, a strong password and your birthday. You will also have to type in a series of letters and numbers
security check as well as check a box saying that you understand and agree to the
of use and privacy policy. Click the "Sign up now!" button when you have
completed the form.
3. Wait for your confirmation email. Facebook sends this email to confirm your registration. When you get the email, click on the link in the email to confirm that you did in fact register for a Facebook account. You will then be logged into Facebook.
4. Search for friends and co-workers. When you first set up a Facebook account, you have the opportunity to search your e-mail address book for possible friends and contacts. Type in your e-mail address and password to do a search. You can also try searching school or company.
5. Join groups and fan pages, such as Saint Mary’s Knights Club group and Saint Mary’s High School fan page. See what groups and pages your friends belong to. When you are a member, not only will you be able to view the members, but you will also be able to contact them
directly via the site, which is another great way to network.

You can add more connections by inviting trusted contacts to join LinkedIn and connect to you. Your network consists of your connections, your connections’ connections, and the people they know, linking you to thousands of qualified professionals.
Through your network you can:
- Find potential clients, service providers, subject experts, and partners who come recommended
- Be found for business opportunities
- Search for great jobs
- Discover inside connections that can help you land jobs and close deals
- Post and distribute job listings
- Find high-quality passive candidates
- Get introduced to other professionals through the people you know
- LinkedIn is free to join. LinkedIn also offers paid accounts that give you more tools for finding and reaching the right people, whether or not they are in your network.
How to Set Up a LinkedIn Account:
1. Import your contacts. Import every contact that you have from your e-mail accounts.
Anybody who you have corresponded with will show up in your search, and you can
choose whom to send an invite. Make sure you narrow the search down to those already
on Linkedin. Most people with an account will approve your invite. This is a great way to
keep your name on the minds of those who you have worked with.
2. Ask and answer questions. Questions can be viewed by any of your friends, but also any
of their friends. If you ask a question, you will be amazed by the responses that you will
get. If you answer questions, it is a great way to network. Invite those who you answer,
or those who answer you, to connect.
3. Join groups, such as Saint Mary’s Knights Club. See what groups your colleagues are in.
Join as many groups as you feel that you qualify for. When you are a
member, not only will you be able to view the members, but you will also be able to
contact them directly via the site, which is another great way to network.
4. Request introductions. Check out whom your connections know. If there is anyone who
you would like to be in your network, you can request for your friend to introduce you.
Introductions are free as well.
5. Recommend people. When you recommend people, all of their connections will see it.
Similarly, when someone recommends you, his or her connections will see it as well.
People tend to return the favor, and it makes you look good, and gives you credibility.
